PHSE and RSE

To support the teaching of Personal, Social and Health Education (PHSE)  we use twinkl plan it resources as our scheme. We have chosen this scheme because it offers progression from 2 year olds- 11 year olds and has a  heavier focus on British values including cultural diversity which is fundamental to our rural setting. There is  a balance of personal and social skills through the 3 main domains: health and well-being, living in the wider world and relationships.

This has units for all classes that cover the key aspects of:

Health and Well Being: Thinking positively, safety, it's my body and growing up,

Living in the Wider World: diverse Britain, aiming high, one world, and money matters,

Relationships: teamwork, VIPs, being yourself and digital well-being,

To support the teaching of  Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) during the summer terms our  RSE sessions for all year groups from YR-Y6 are supported by the Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning (GHLL) Relationships and Sex Education resources.

We teach the PSHE and RSE units and outcomes over a 2 yearly rolling programme from Y1 to Y6 so by the end KS1, LKS2 and UKS2, the children will have been taught all the outcomes.

Personal Development

Our PSHE curriculum is part of our whole school focus on the personal development of each of the children who attends our school.

We do this in many ways, through the clubs they can attend, through leadership roles in school and other resources and vistors, through the democractic process of voting for our School Spirit Squad (SSS), preparing children for transition in the second half of the summer term as well as giving the children as many opportunities as possible to maintain an active lifestyle both during the day and after school.

Our children take part in sessions for Year 5 and 6 from our PSCO on drugs, county lines and keeping safe as well as participating in the Mock Trials.
